Love Songs from the Garden - Say it With Flowers

to gain inroads into your own heart. Beware of those who come to you trailing lemon balm. It brings love. Lemon verbena attracts the opposite sex. Those who come bearing nasturtiums may think of you as the spoils of war in which all is fair when it is a love war. And ferns are a signal that someone has a secret love for you - so be prepared.

If you can't face taking a plunge into the ups and downs of romance just yet, a striped carnation will say "No. Sorry." Or convey your indifference with a sprig or two of candytuft.

But if you are ready for the adventure again, be prepared with forsythias to show your happy anticipation. Add a daffodil to show that you return the affection. I hope you will then be receiving beautiful bouquets of red tulips and blue hyacinths. And may the rest of your life be an exchange of lilies of the valley, where you tell each other daily "You've made my life complete."

Now, isn't that much more fun than the same old bouquet of roses?
