In the meantime, here are a few sources for information on good planting combinations:
Learn about leaves on the Virtual Foliage Home Page
If you're ordering seeds, check Travis Saling's seed FAQ. It's about veggies, but you'll learn valuable basics about seeds in general.
Can't decide on a color scheme? Read Influencing the Environment with Color
To find out what plants are likely to do well in your yard, use The Plantfinder
Get the scoop on planting and maintaining annuals from Garden Guides.
For help with those foliage effects, Silver and Gold: Priceless Foliage Effects and In the Garden Green are must reading!
