Gardening for all 5 senses part IV: Sippin' the scenery.


The French have made an art of ornamental vegetable gardening with their potageres. The English have made an art of ornamental gardens that include edibles. Surely any truly enjoyable garden will cater to this often neglected garden sensation, as well as to sight, scent and sound.

The following are a few good links to help you create a garden that tastes as good as it looks and smells.

The Cottage Garden Project provides help and organizational aids for planning a cottage garden of your own.

Smell Your Flowers and Eat Them, Too gives great tips on what to do with all the edible flowers in your garden.

Edible Landscaping is a site where you can order just about any edible plant you can imagine--and get recipes, too. Or just browse and marvel at all the edible ornamentals.

The Osbaston Kitchen Garden gives you a peek at how spectacular a garden of edibles can actually be.

Finally, get a couple of intriguing flower recipes: The Cooks Garden offers one for violet jelly, and The Herbal Touch offers lavender and thyme recipes, plus one for herbal tea--and a plan for an herbal tea garden.
