Is Your Garden a Fashion Victim?


your plants, whatever color they are. If you really spend much time worrying about whether your geraniums match your house trim then I feel sorry for you.

But if you buy the newest plants because they appeal to you, because they will work with colors you already have, and with plants you love and intend to keep - then go for it!

The up side of all this plant marketing is that we get a lot of new varieties - some of which will work for us and some of which will fail abysmally in our present garden's planting scheme. If you love it and have the space for it, consider yourself lucky that someone went to the trouble to market it and make it available to you.

Here is a peek at next year's colors in different industries according to Color Communication,Inc.

Based on that, here are my predictions for plants that will be hot next summer. I'll leave the annuals to the hybridizers, but watch for these perennials to become more important in next year's planting schemes. And note well - these are predictions based solely on color. Next week, look for other factors that influence the hot plants of the season.
