St Paul's Cathedral This church is Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece. Built in the classical style, it shows excellent craftsmanship and innovation. St. Paul's also houses wonderful carvings, statues, mosaics and the famous " The Light of the World," by Holman Hunt. Open Monday-Saturday for sightseeing. There is an admission charge. This church is open for worship only on Sundays. Theatre London is a great city for theatre. Many original productions have begun here, like Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserable to name just two. You may always find the latest productions, may they be musicals, drama, thrillers or mystery. The Globe If it's Shakespeare you fancy, you may see his plays in the re-creation of Shakespeare's Elizabethan Globe Theatre, built using techniques and materials from 400 years ago. It is just like the setting in Shakespears time. The Globe also houses the largest exhibition of Shakespeare memorabilia and history. Some exhibitions are free. Favorite Landmarks Houses of Parliament and Big Ben The 150-year-old Houses of Parliament are elegant buildings, sitting majestically on the side of the river. Big Ben is also there as is Westminster Abbey. Feel the history as you visit this site. Somerset House This was formerly an 18th century tax office. It now contains the Cilbert Collection, the Courauld Gallery of Impressionist Art and the Hermitage Rooms. It also has a riverside café and restaurant. Admission to the house is free, but there is an admission charge for attractions. Tower Bridge Tower Bridge is one of the most famous bridges in the world. It houses an exhibition with the history of the bridge, and visitors have an excellent view from the high walkways. There is an admission charge. The London Eye The London Eye (Millennium Wheel) at 135 metres high, is the highest observation wheel in the world. The Eye has a spectacular view, which encompasses not only the panorama of the city, Buckingham Palace and Parliament, but if the sky is clear, Windsor Castle and environs can be seen. The wheel holds 800 passengers in 32 glass capsules situated around the wheel. The so-called flight takes 30 minutes as the wheel slowly makes one revolution.
