The Cutty Sark The Curry Sark dates back to the early nineteenth century, or possibly earlier. It was originally the Union Tavern, renamed after the famous tea clipper Cutty Sark, in 1954. This popular pub has a wide ranging menu and a view across the river Thames. The Olde Bell The Olde Bell, near St Paul’s Cathedral, has been licensed for 300 years. This quaint pub maintains it’s character with well-worn, sometimes moving, wooden floors and triangular oak stools. It has stained glass windows in front and in back the door leads to the quiet courtyard of St Brides church. It is a very popular The Red Lion The Red Lion was built at the turn of the century. It has a mahogany bar and fine cut glass and cut and etched mirrors. This popular place serves food in the bar but also has a restaurant upstairs. There is a good chance of spotting parliamentarians here, as the parliamentary broadcasts, without sound, are shown on the TV. This place is definitely a classic Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese takes you into another era. This old pub has survived the reign of 15 monarchs, whose names are listed by the entrance. Inside you enter a dark enchanting lair of staircases and corridors that lead to the numerous bars and eating rooms. My favorite is the ground floor bar. It is small and dark, but has a roaring fire in the open fireplace and this is where the leather bound visitors book resides.
