Golf

The desert has more than 200 golf courses I'm told but a new treasure of a course has just been added. It's the Greg Norman at PGA west. Worth a round according to top golf magazines and my golf playing friends.

Restaurants

The clubhouse at the Norman also holds a treasure.

Wallabys restaurant and Bar.

Open for lunch, it has a limited but good selection of sandwiches, salads and soup. Very Good.

The La Quinta Grill offers an open pit BBQ, Al fresco dining and excellent food. Their specialties are BBQ ribs and pork tenderloin in an exquisite sauce. A good wine selection and service Moderate prices 78-034 Calle Barcelona La Quinta, CA 92253 564-4443

The Sandbar, is funky 50's like place, with good food, served with excellent music, voice and piano. Specialties are steak and a tollhouse cookie pie. Fun places to eat they also have an excellent selection of wine. Reservations for both these places are necessary in season and on the weekends year round. Moderate prices
