SIX DOGS NAMED REX

Six dogs named Rex were sorely vexed, when they looked in the sky, to see the Christmas Star was gone, they blinked, then wondered why.

They howled and yipped and wagged six tails, but the Star did not appear. "The Star has up and left the sky!" said Rex, who shook with fear.

We must set off to find the Star, and set things back to right. The Star must shine for all to see, for this is Christmas Night.

Six dogs named Rex leapt up and ran, towards the Arctic snow. Searching for the Christmas Star, that no longer gave a show.

Fallen from the midnight sky, the Star was in the sea. Glimmering beneath the ice, where seals and walrus be.

A dog named Rex was first to see, the twilight in the night. That looked quite like the midnight sun, but lower and more bright.

He led five dogs named Rex to where, the glow was strong and white. And they began to dig and dig, and dig with all their might.

But soon their poor cold paws were raw, their nails were scraped to quick. And those six dogs whose names were Rex, curled up, began to lick.

Below the ice the narwhals heard, the scratching and the yelps. They swam their ways towards the noise, to see if they could help.

And there they saw the Christmas Star, all shivery and cold. And turning blue before their eyes. what a sight t'was to behold.

"Oh Christmas Star, why are you here?" Ned Narwhal boldly said. "If you stay down here in the cold. quite frankly, you'll be dead."

I drifted from the winter sky, and jumped into the sea. No one cares if I shine bright, no creature will miss me.

You are wrong, oh Christmas Star, you must stay strong and bright, To hold the Christmas Spirit high, to glow throughout the night.

You see, there are six dogs named Rex. who've traveled from afar. Tried to dig down through the ice to save you, Christmas Star.

But dogs are the best friends of men, and men don't care a bit. Their Christmases are gifts and toys, and eating til they're sick.

But you are wrong, my starry friend, for somewhere deep within, The ember of the Christmas light, will ultimately win.
