After a morning of shopping my mother and I take a tour to White Pass Summit. The scenery including Pitchfork falls, Moore Creek Bridge, Skagway Overlook and even Dead Horse Gulch *is beautiful. The summit is spectacular. The trip to the Gold Rush Miner's Graveyard is most interesting. Soapy's grave marker has been newly whitewashed. Frank Reid's stone still stands and still has a fence protecting the grave. Then we head back to the ship for an evening of good food, good companions, entertainment and bed, with dreams of tomorrow when we sail into Glacier Bay. Mary Ellen Bradshaw * Many horses were sick, malnurished and dying. The Gulch was named for the large number of horses that died there and along the route.
