It began as a French theatre festival. Now it includes, French and foreign drama, dance, Poetry readings, debates, Equestrian theatre, actor workshops and readings. The festival takes place from late July till early August. Forty new performances will be shown. Villar's legacy lives on.

Avignon is also renowned for its Cote du Rhone wine, *Chateau Neuf du Pape' being the the most famous. Avignon is also known for its excellent local and international cuisine, it's elegant streets where one may shop, or or just view with awe the beautiful buildings and courtyards. Although you may easily walk around the old town, a small tourist "train" " the Chemin de Ronde" will take you to the main attractions.

Another must see is Rocher l'Doms park where from the top of the ramparts there is an excellent view of the river, the surrounding countryside and the Pont d'Avignon.
