problem raised its ugly head and for two seasons I was just about put out of circulation as far as any serious yard chores were concerned. It has been in this past year that I have worked through the pain and still managed to make some headway. It has been slow reclaimi! ng the back gardens, but hopefully, next spring I will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We¹ve had our frustrations along the way and the house remodeling will probably never be done, but I would not trade living here for being in town. We can still see lots of wildlife in our yard (raccoons, all manner of bird species, including Pheasants and Bald Eagles, Fox, and lots of Deer...which I could do without!) The mountain view and sunsets never get old. The kids have had lots of space to gather and have friends over. Our neglected orchard still manages to share its fruit...

The Web Page: The Olympic Views web page was officially born on March 15, 1998. We had gotten Internet hookup and I got the crazy notion that all my gardening books and numerous photos could be put to use if I put up a tour of the garden and offered to answer questions. I didn¹t want to lose all the botanical names and completely give up what I¹d enjoyed while working at the nursery. At this time I was coming out of a grieving period and the web page gave me a positive focus...similar to the restorative powers that working in the garden has provided while going through the rigors of living. The web page also gave me a sense of commitment to keep pushing the reclamation of the back yard. I figured that if I went public, I would be under more pressure to follow through, since I¹m showing people what I¹m doing along the way (kind of like telling all your friends that you are going on a diet!). Overall, having a web page has been a creative and marvelous experience and I¹ve met so! me lovely people!
