Romaine Undery's Garden Down Under

soil.

I learnt never to use lavender in a bog garden and also learnt not to dig up a small, helpless, deciduous tree (Albizia) just because it loses its leaves..I thought it was dead. Then do not place such a tree into a bucket with no drainage holes. Amazingly, this tree after surviving a season in this bucket was rescued and replanted when my husband Peter noticed its leaves returning. It is now healthy and beautiful. My early gardening experiences became not only a means of relaxing from a wonderful Father in Law's constant chatter but also developed into a life-long passion. In effect, I was happily involved in my garden for good! ....I read many more gardening books, watched Burkes Backyard and Gardening Australia on TV and sought much advice from family, friends and the local garden centre. In return, the chorus of chatter continued with many of our Visiting Birds.

Now you have read the story of how our humble home-garden began, you might wish to venture further up the garden path and visit The Virtual Tour of Romaine's Garden which displays a planting of colourful photos. You may then choose to visit my homepage at Romaine's Garden and end your tour with a piece of my wonderful chocolate cake on the Kitchen Garden page.

Thank you for taking the time to smell the flowers.
Kind regards, Romaine.
