The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto

So far I have been writing on Western classical pieces for the violin, since the violin is a Western musical instrument. But I would like to introduce this outstanding violin concerto from the East, the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto. This is composed by He xxxxxx, in 19xx. The concerto was inspired by an old love story in China, about a young man Liang Shanbo in love with Zhu Yingtai, which leads to a bitter sweet ending. The whole story will be briefly described below as to enhance music appreciation of this violin concerto full of Chinese ethnic flavour.

The entire piece lasts around 25 to 30 minutes, depending on which recording you choose. We could say that it has just one movement, but any discernable listener will be able to tell that the whole piece consists of different parts. The first part lasts until around x minutes, where it starts with flute playing thrills, instantly evoking an unmistakable scent of orient. Gently but playfully, the flute immediately portrays the lightness of spring, as if butterflys and bees are flying around with utmost gaiety. Using pentatonic scales, we are never far away from the oriental beauty.
