First off, I'd like to appologize for the large gap in my writings. I have recently left prep school, and have spent most of my time training for the upcoming Junior Olympic Nationals (for all you track&field buffs, my team competes in the 4*800 meter relay, we're shooting for a time <8:05). So, back to my musings.
In todays world, like it or not, people buy computers with playing games in mind. In fact, many people buy computers almost exclusivly to play games! The average person doesn't do this, but I'd like to suggest a few little games to distract you in times of boredom.
It is generally accepted that the quality of macintosh shareware is much higher then that of windows shareware, this is yet another bonus of our platform of choice!
Now, if you're on a compact mac, running on a 68000 proccessor, your choices are rather limited. I would recommend downloading a copy of Bolo, a great game of tank combat. This is primarily a network game, so it is ideal for a person who has a big mess of compact macs lying around.
If you're on a 68020, or 68030 mac (such as the mac II series) You have a slightly better selection. I'd look at Ambrosia Software's offerings. Try playing a bit of Maelstrom, or Swoop. These are both games that should both work well, and be very entertaining.
For people who are on the high end of the low end (maybe I should obscue obfuscation) with their 68040 quadras, or early powerPCs, go nuts! Most of the shareware you can find will work! Your first stop should probably be Ambrosia's (No I'm not being payed off by amrbosia) Escape Velocity series. These game are easily commercial quality, and should provide hundreds of hours of fun!
Well, don't just sit there! Start Downloading!
