As discussed in earlier topic about voice communication, video communication is also similar like voice communication. There is just one addition of hardware in video communication, which is video camera*. It is the basic and important in video thing in communication. The other hardware, are modem, microphone, sound card(s), browser or software, and most important is connectivity speed. Video communication through Internet is not that much popular among people, because requirements are high and will take some time.
Video communication through Internet will be the hot feature in future and it will help people in many ways. Video communication is working successful for local area networking through special cables known as Fiber-optic cables*. But it is not introduce in World Wide Web because the connectivity speed is insufficient to make perfect videoconference.
Video-Communication or conference is helping in business meetings. It can be used for meeting with relatives, online education, online spy, online dating, etc.
It can be used in business meetings for long distance. For example, if you have a meeting outside the country, why spending so much money on traveling. Just connect through Internet and have face-to-face conference. It means getting rid of these long distance travels. Most people can use it for meeting with their relatives. It will play an affective role especially for those people who live at long distance. So video communication is actually meant for bringing people closer.
Distance education increasingly uses combinations of different communications technologies to enhance the abilities of teachers and students to communicate with each other. With the spread of computer-network communications in the 1980s and 1990s, large numbers of people gained access to computers linked to telephone lines, allowing teachers and students to communicate in conferences via computers. Distance education also makes use of computer conferencing on the World Wide Web, where teachers and students present text, pictures, audio, and occasionally video. A conferencing method known as one-way video/two-way audio uses television pictures that are transmitted to particular sites, where people can reply to the broadcasters with a telephone call-in system. Television pictures can also be transmitted in two directions simultaneously through telephone lines, so that teachers and students in one place can see and hear teachers and students in other places. This is called video-conferencing.
As it will get introduced among people through World Wide Web, it will play role in online dating. Were you could not just talk but also you can see your date. That mean the period of blind date is over.
