And then, there will be those where no matter how you continue to question, encourage, re-shoot, or dance on the table, the results will not evolve as hoped. Though under these circumstances, a lengthy interview (and spending additional time) may be impossible or seem fruitless, nothing is strictly wasted. A short sentence, some phrasing - cut-aways of the person speaking, if nothing else - may enrich your production in new ways. With imagination, flexibility, and skillful editing, these too can improve and enhance the whole. In short, for a scriptwriter/interviewer, there are no "bad" subjects, only poor questions - and an ability or inability to adapt.
