Tamagotchi Back

March 20th sees the return of the Tamagotchi: the Tamagotchi Plus. You might remember the original from the heady days of 1996, when this kind of toy was very new and exciting.

So, what have they done to make it worth a second outing? Added infrared connectivity, of course.

E3 Expo

It's E3 time again. Once again, I'm not going due to financial restrictions. Sigh.

For those of you who are lucky enough to attend, here are some high points to watch out for:

- Swedish developers

- History of Videogames interactive museum (presented by Intellivision)
- Hacker University previewing techniques for preventing digital reproduction of games (presented by Macrovision)
- The Education Arcade, focusing on games in education (presented by MIT/ESA)

It promises to be a good one. You lucky, lucky people. Bring me back some memories...

Pro-Gaming gets an Upgrade

Starcraft is big in South Korea, as is professional gaming. In the case of SK Telecom, it is 7 million dollars big, and their first step was to sponsor 4U (formerly Orion), one of South Koreas leading Starcraft pro-gaming team.

It is hard to imagine anything of this scale happening anywhere else in the world - the sponsorship deal offered to 4U includes their own van, an office and dormitory complex of over 3500 square feet, and the team leaders' salary.

Not a bad deal for playing games all day, is it?

Forums

Since we don't seem to have much action on our forums, I've taken to poaching other people's.

"The Shrek games have been absolutely terrible so far - along with Kabuki Warriors it was the Xbox's absolute worst to offer at the time, and it gave us Gamecube owners something to laugh about before they gave us an even worse version of the game." --SovanJedi

Auction Watch

Some of the picks of the pack over at EBay:

Tron Arcade Game

At the time of writing, about a day before the auction ends, this has a price tag of $900, which is to my mind, a bit of a bargain. By the time you read this it will be sold, of course - worth taking a look at how much it went for...
