Why Don't You Just Leave?

Apr 15, 2001 - © Laura Wilkinson

Unfortunately, it's not there. Whatever demon he is carrying around with him that makes him Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is not something WE can banish. In her book "Co-Dependent No More," Melody Beattie said, "You didn't cause it, you can't cure it."

So stop trying. Start getting on with your life. I know this is not a happy piece of news, but believe me: there is nothing you can do to make him love you, care for you, come home at night, stop screaming, stop abusing. He has made the choice to try to turn you into his own personal doormat. It's your turn to make the choice to refuse to accept that.

I hope this helps. Next time I will talk about the book that I read that absolutely set me free. May you find peace.
