Marilyn's vampires are born, not made. The vampire brothers, Serge and Mikhel Dumont, are only half breeds, their father is human, although contact and blood exchange with their mother, who is a full blood vampire, has made him something more than just human. Their mother hopes they will choose full blood vampires as bloodlusts, but they find themselves attracted to THE all-too-human women of Erica Kaili and Derri Morgan.
Serge and Mikhal's mother hasn't told them everything. It seems that once they find their bloodlust, they begin to develop power that will turn them into full blood vampires, and they must go through what is called the Feast of Indulgence, a condition, something like the Vulcan Pon Farr, which causes the vampire to change personality. They feel invincible, they crave blood and sex, without caring for anyone. It threatens the vampire's life, by making him lose control of his mind and body, and through the lost of control, it also threatens their bloodlust if it isn't another vampire.
Marilyn Lee has created an interesting group of vampires, with enough unanswered questions that make you hope for more stories.
