contrived problems between the sexes, it didn't lack for plenty of good old fashion lust. Matthew is a workaholic who spends his little free time tearing the clothes off his very willing wife. Their frequent love making includes claw marks, bitting, and lots of howling. It is a good thing he is a well paid doctor, his clothing bill must be astronomical, torn clothes, buttons missing, blood stains.

It is the development of Kate Hill's vampire world that makes this book so interesting. In THE DARKNESS WITHIN, we basically met two vampires, one good and one bad. In the second book in the series, THE IMMACULATE, we discover a whole world of vampires, a strange melding of vampires as alien, vampires both made and born, and thousands year old culture ruled by the mysterious Network. The explanation for vampires is both scientific and magical. Now in GOD OF GRIM Kate explores her vampires in detail. Matthew was raised by humans, has survived by blending in and submerging his vampiric nature. He is very controlled because he needed to be, but he is also afraid of what he is. Now he is confronted with a situation that forces him to give in to his vampire nature. He must put aside his methodical scientific side to explore the realms of improbability and magic. Kate Hill has crafted a complex, creative, and ultimately very interesting vampire world combining many different elements to fashion a world that this reader hopes very much she will continue to explore.
