Kate Hill is a true lover of the vampire. This is my third time to visit this wonderful
Vampire eBook Author and I was not disappointed in GOD OF GRIM. She is also a
zine and ezine publisher, whose zines include Blood Samples, which is devoted to
vampire flash fiction.
INTERVIEW QUESTIONS Tell us a little about yourself. That's always a hard question. I never know exactly what to say. I guess I'm just a banker who loves to write. What is new and exciting in your life? I've almost completed a new vampire book, different from the vampires in The Immaculate/God of the Grim books. God of Grim is billed as the third in a trilogy, but there are some unresolved issues that might lead to other adventures, such as what was Jules doing for a year and the fate of the werewolves. Are you considering more books in this universe? I actually have outlines for three more books set in the same vampire universe. I'd like to expand on some of the secondary characters, such as Vincent, Brett, and Mercedes, and I'd also like to do a book featuring the twins again. Is there a series name or a name of your vampire universe? I never actually had a name for this series of books. Tell us about your other books. I know you have a new historical romance that is now available from RFI West. The Chieftain's Bride is set towards the end of the Viking age. There are no vampires in this book, though. It's a historical romance about a young British woman forced into marriage with a Viking Chieftain. You have created an interesting blend of "Vampire as Alien" and "Vampire as Magic", science versus magic. Matthew the scientist is also a warlock. Most writers tend to stick to one side of the issue or the other, why didn't you? Though I prefer not to write about supernatural vampires, there's no denying there's something magical about them. The Original vampires in my universe were space explorers, but they also perfected mind control and telepathy. Matthew, the lead character in God of the Grim, has been a firm believer in science, but certain events in his life cannot be fully explained. I like the conflict this stirs within him. I also like the possibility that someday the "magic" might be explained by science. You also publish zines. Want to tell us about them. I've run a micro press called Anxiety Publications since 1999. As of 2004, Anxiety Publications is no longer in production. The first zine I published, which ran up until last year, was called Parchment Symbols. It contained horror, fantasy, and paranormal romance fiction, poetry, and artwork. Due to financial and time constraints, I had to close the zine. Anxiety still publishes an online zine called Behold, which is basically an online version of Parchment Symbols that comes out twice a year. Anxiety also publishes single story chapbooks and short collections of poetry as well as Blood Samples, a zine of vampire flash fiction. |
