A Scarlet Peccadillo is John Masterson's first book. While it is classified as a Vampire
novel, it is like no other vampire novel that I have read, maybe like no other novel that I
have ever read.

http://www.sirius-books.com/scarlet.html The Scarlet Peccadillo is a story of madness and insanity portrayed from the inside where everything actually seems normal and sane. The book starts with Louisiana's abusive mother, Stelma, burying Louisiana's pet gold fish in a flower pot as a punishment and quickly escalates into a savage beating with a old fashioned carpet beater, a family heirloom which Stelma's mother used to beat her everyday. Louisiana, Lulu, finds comfort in biting herself and sucking the blood. It gives her a sense of peace and of control, even power. I found it difficult to relate to that idea, but I know some people do experience that need or hunger. Lulu's mother was raised by an abusive mother and knows no other way but to take out her emotions on her daughter. She hates her daughter and it becomes a contest of wills between the two of them, a true love/hate relationship. It is an insane household, Go To Page: 1 2
