Angelique Armae is the pen name of author Josephine Piraneo. Writing since high school, Josephine's first published novel COME THE NIGHT is a vampyre tale set in medieval Ireland.

According to Josephine, the fact that her hero is of Irish and Roman descent wasn't much of a surprise, after all she herself is of Irish and Italian heritage. What was a surprise was the fact that he was a vampire. Josephine hadn't plan on writing about vampires. COME THE NIGHT came as an inspiration born out of the blue while she was working on a tale of angels and the angelic realm.

COME THE NIGHT was a 2001 Sapphire Awards Finalist and a 2001 Pearl Awards Finalist in Best Overall Paranormal, Best Shapeshifter Novel, and Best New Author categories. Josephine is also proud of the fact that she designed the book's cover.

She is currently working on a slew of romances. We can certainly can look forward to more from Josephine including more Irish vampire novels as well as angel novels, even an Arthurian novel.

Josephine resides in upstate New York together with her cats Tabitha & Patch--the online feline fiction stars, who have their own web site. When not writing Josephine works as a front desk manager at a local hotel.

Her web site TellTalePress http://www.telltalepress.com hosts an interesting mixture of angels, vampires, cats, and romance. Her Vampire Archives is full of author profiles, book reviews, and lots of interesting tidbits about vampires.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

How did you come up with Angelique Armae as a pen name? I've studied angels for as far back as I can remember. As an angelologist, I've taught classes on angels and the angelic realm. When I was looking for a pen name, I literally 'asked' my angels and the first thing that popped into my head was 'Angelic Army'. So, with that thought, I set out to form a pen name from the words. I translated it to french - l'armee des anges (army of angels) and then doctored the term so it came out as a name. DesAnges (of angels) became Angelique as in angelic, and L'armee (army) became Armae.

I understand that you didn't set out to write a vampire novel, how did that happen? My first passion is writing fantasy novels about angels and the angelic realm. Most of my angel books have grigoris and their off-spring as main characters. The grigori's were of the tenth choir of angels who fell from grace after coupling with the daughters of Cane. My vampyres just worked their way into the story. I envisioned a creature of the night who had a link to the dark side of heaven and the rest was history.
