I've been writing paranormal romance for most of my life. I've always had a fascination
with vampires, werewolves, and psychic powers. For me, paranormal stories are a way
of escaping from reality, which is good every now and then!
Although The Immaculate is obviously a sequel from The Darkness Therein, had you planned to write it when you started Darkness or did it just develop. All three books in the vampire trilogy developed over time, and I used elements from many other vampire stories I've written, most of which have never been submitted for publication. I've been developing this particular vampire world for about six years. Where did you get your ideas of the origins of the vampires? And First Father? I've always preferred to think of vampires as another species or another animal and had been writing about them with that type of background in mind. I wanted to create a species that has human qualities but has also harnessed the powers of the mind to explain the mind control that I know is stereotypical of vampires, but which I find very attractive in heroes, heroines, and villains. Most of the vampires in this world have personality types and morals similar to humans, some good, some bad, others neutral. The First Father represents the power hungry, dangerous, and self-centered of the vampire world, while Adam's group and the members of the Network mentioned briefly at the end of the Immaculate represent those who just want to live and let live. The third book, God of the Grim, explores the deterioration of the Network's values and mistakes made by vampire-kind. In the story of Matthew, there seemed to be a novel missing, Matthew and Dulcie's story, which comes before the Immaculate? Have you thought about writing that story? Or did you? Actually, it wasn't a whole novel. Dulcie and Matthew's story began in an unpublished short story. They existed before Adam and Mara. God of the Grim is a novel about Dulcie and Matthew. Tell us a little bit about the third book in the trilogy, The God of Grim. God of the Grim takes place several years after The Immaculate. It also fills in pieces of Dulcie and Matthew's past as well as what Matthew went through hiding his nature from his mortal family. In this book, Matthew is forced to leave his job at a human hospital, and he pursues a career at a research center that specializes in "vampire" medicine. There he discovers not all vampires are contributing to the good of their own
