It is not just new vampire authors that are making use of the Internet. Many well known vampire authors have official websites. In cases such as Anne Rice, fan pages abound. A few of these well know writers have made stories available online.

KIM NEWMAN

As I wrote last month, Kim Newman, who writes the Anno-Dracula series, an alternate world where Dracula survived and established a race of vampires not only has a website. Http://indigo.ie/~imago/newman.html

He also has several of his Anno-Dracula stories available to read online.

MICHAEL ROMKEY

Michael Romkey's series about the Illuminati includes I, Vampire, The Vampire Papers, The Vampire Princess, The Vampire Virus, The Vampire Hunter, and just released London Vampire Panic. In the past months, he has been serializing on his website, http://www.thevampire.com, a new novel, The Vampire's Violin,. You can read the first eleven chapters, but now that he has sold the story, you will have to wait until it is published to read the end. He has started something entirely new, The Vampire Papers Vol. 2, which is very intriguing. He also hosts a lively and intimate newsgroup. It is rare for an author to keep in such close contact with his fans. As I am writing this, he has promised a new and exciting website in the near future and a much needed change from Yahoo as host for his list.

CHELSEA QUINN YABRO

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro is a prolific and well known writer whose vampire Saint-Germain is featured in 13 volumes. She has two other series based on characters from the Saint-Germain series, featuring vampires Atta Olivia Clemens and Madelaine de Montalia. One of her Madelaine de Montalia books, In the Face of Death, is available as an ebook from Hidden Knowledge. In the Face of Death is an erotic vampire historical novel, set in America in the years before and during the Civil War. Madelaine lives with and studies the native tribes of America, trying to document their culture and knowledge before they are changed unalterably by contact with the White Man . . . only to find herself in the middle of some of the most horrifying events of the War . . . centering on the man she has fallen in love with William Tecumseh Sherman.
