JennaKay Francis is a prolific fantasy writer, a very prolific fantasy writer . She has published six eBooks in her The Guardians of Glede series, which she says she began writing in 1996. There are at least 17 more forthcoming. In addition to The Guardians of Glede series, she has published four other fantasy novels, all from RFI West. The first three books in The Guardians of Glede series (The Triskelion, The Dark Prince, and The Sorcerer's Pool) are now available in paperback. Is Gift of Blood your only book about vampires - excuse me Vectors?
No, there are two more. From the Heart is scheduled for a 2001 release. The third is not yet finished and uncontracted.
How did you come up with the concept of the Vectors and Bleeders?
I read an interesting article about people that produce too much iron in their blood and have to be bled on a regular basis to keep from dying. I was also challenged by a friend to write a vampire romance, so I took up the challenge and wrote A Gift of Blood.
Did you envision them as true vampires? Or were they just a different fantasy creature?
I wanted my own race, with my own rules. I didn't want to be locked into a preconceived base of rules pertaining to vampires. And I didn't want them to be the undead either. But, at the same time, I wanted them to have some of the recognizable characteristics of a vampire.
Will there be more Vector books?
Two more. Well, for now. Who knows once they start talking to me. *g*
Tell us a little about The Guardian of Glede series? What is it about?
The Guardians of Glede series are fantasy adventure. Mostly quest type of books. They deal with 6 men, their magics and their families. And their bond with each other. The characters are not stagnant--they age, marry, have their own children, grow older. It was a challenge to have them live long enough to keep having adventures, however. I
