It has been three months since I started writing the column and it is still loads of fun. I've been busy lining up some interesting authors and great books for future columns. I just finished reading a book by Rosemary Laurey. No, wait that is the next column. I don't want to spoil it. This time I thought I would focus on adding more links and updating some and spend some time getting the word out about what a great column this is. Humility isn't one of my virtues, thank goodness. I came across a new Internet word the other day. Blog. Do you know what a blog is? It is a cross between an online journal and a links page and according to Yahoo Life they are becoming very popular. So I decided to make this column sort of a blog, more like an evamblog. Now there's a word for you.
I was very disappointed with the demise of Themestream because I had quite a few promising vampire stories from there on my to-be-read pile. Now they are gone. Or as in the case of Cecil Washington have found new Internet homes. I had mentioned one of his vampire poems in my February column about love and the vampire. Cecil describes himself as an African American scifi/fantasy/horror author who writes black speculative fiction for all. http://creativebrother.terrashare.com/ and http://www.scifimoor.com/index.html Of course my own vampire short story "Sweethearts for Valentine" has disappeared from the net for now until I decide where to resurrect it along with some of my other vampire stories. If you are one of those former Themestreamers who has found new homes for your vampire stories, let me know and I will be glad to point the way to you. Another demise which greatly saddened me was that of Pathways to Darkness, http://pathwaytodarkness.com It was one of the finest and largest vampire sites on the web. Its creatrix and webmistress could no longer afford the time or bandwidth cost and offered it for sale. I was very pleased to see it resurrected. It is now being sponsored by Vampire Vineyards. We will see what happens with it. So far the content hasn't changed, but it will give you a chance to read a lot of great vampire fiction and the forums are active. Lilith's Lair http://www.lilithslair.net/ is one of the most interesting vampire sites on the web, but this site isn't for the under 18 set. It welcomes vampire erotica. (Not pornography, but erotica.) Its extensive art gallery has some really beautiful work. In its writing section poetry, short stories, novels of all kinds. Research section includes Go To Page: 1 2 |
