INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

So what is new with you?

In June, Ellora's Cave http://www.ellorascave.com released ELLORA'S CAVEMEN: LEGENDARY TAILS II, an anthology that includes my story "Demon's Fall." I think of it as my experiment in erotic paranormal inspirational romance. Amber Quill Press http://www.amberquill.com has accepted BESIEGED ADEPT, sequel to WILD SORCERESS, written by my husband and me.

Tell us about your latest book for Silhouette.

EMBRACING DARKNESS belongs in the same universe as my other vampire novels, but stands alone; the reader doesn't have to know anything about the other books, although Roger from DARK CHANGELING and Valpa from SEALED IN BLOOD play cameo roles. In EMBRACING DARKNESS, the heroine, whose niece has been murdered, decides to dig into the secrets of the woman she believes responsible for the deaths of her niece and the niece's boyfriend. The heroine runs into Max, older brother of her niece's lover, who is also determined to track down the villainess. They join forces, with the heroine, of course, not suspecting that both Max and the mysterious villainess are vampires.

How does it feel to be published by one of the big publishers?

Very exciting! I love my e-publishers, but it is also a great feeling to have one of my novels in almost all the major book outlets in the country. EMBRACING DARKNESS received a 4-star review from ROMANTIC TIMES, just a half-step down from their highest rating.

What are you working on now, what's next?

I'm almost finished with the draft of an elf romance I hope to sell to Silhouette. It involves a baby, always a popular feature in romance novels, only this baby is half-elven. My husband and I are starting to work on the sequel to BESIEGED ADEPT, which will be the third and probably final book in the series and will contain a lot of surprises. Ellora's Cave is going to release a trade paperback, MAIDEN FLIGHTS, in September, combining two of my fairy-tale-themed stories previously available only as e-books, "Dragon's Tribute" and "Virgin Blood."

Anything you would like to tell the readers?

I've added a timeline of my vampire fiction to my website. Go to http://www.margaretlcarter.com and click on "Vanishing Breed Vampire Universe" to find out how all the novels and stories fit together. Two stories in this series, previously published many years ago when fanzines were mimeographed and dinosaurs walked the Earth, have just been reprinted in the vampire zine GOOD GUYS WEAR FANGS, Issue 4, which can be ordered from http://www.neonrainbowpress.com .
