Do you plan additional books in the series?

Yes, I just got the plot for the third book--that *pop* thing again--two weeks ago. I came up with the title today. It will be called PRAYING FOR DAYLIGHT. I have some vague ideas for at least two more books after that. Additionally, I'd like to write Remy and Margaret Lambert's back-story. I have it plotted out and it will be called RAIN IN LAFAYETTE. And I've begun collaboration with Mihan McKenna on a novel about Stewart and Juliet Westmoreland. How do you feel about a serial killer as the hero? *grin*

You work with Aimée Masion. What is it like writing with a partner?

I love working with Aimée. We are great friends as well as an immensely compatible team. We "talk" via IM daily and if we aren't working on one project, we're working on another. We visit when we can - she lives in New Orleans and I live just north of Fort Worth. We are very different people with very different styles but we mesh together really well.

Aimée is not my only co-author. I just completed a short romance with Trixie Stilletto called EIGHT IS NEVER ENOUGH. And as I said earlier, I'm working with Mihan McKenna. I've also done amateur work with a couple of other authors. So I'm getting pretty good at the different aspects of creating something with someone else.

Working with another author is both much easier and much more difficult than working alone. It's easier because you aren't alone; someone is sharing the burden. There's constant feedback and if you hit a rough spot there's someone to brainstorm with. You have a constant flow of creativity between the partners. On the other hand, you are not in complete control and the partners have to agree on plot, characterization, word choices...it's a lot to ask of another person. It takes complete trust and acceptance of your partner.

Besides WALKING AT MIDNIGHT what are you currently working on?

As I said earlier, I'm developing book 3 of the series, PRAYING FOR DAYLIGHT. I will probably start actually writing some of it as soon as WALKING AFTER MIDNIGHT is done and I'm only about 50 pages away from that goal. Aimée and I are working on a Regency vampire romance and a French Corsair romance. We've finished the rough draft on a speculative fiction romance, MENAGE, exploring the need to be loved just for yourself. It's about a young woman with earth goddess-type powers and mystic blood that draws vampires to her. She meets a vampire couple and through their developing relationship discovers what she really wants and who she really wants to be. Trixie and I had such fun with "EIGHT IS NEVER ENOUGH" that we'd like to work on other short projects together. I have tons of ideas but I figure working on 4 or 5 at a time is enough!
