The Magic Kingdom at DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida isn't just for kids. It's a wonderful place full of innocent entertainment and timeless characters - with a few additions - that together make up a gentle alternative to the noise and excitement, of say, Great Universal Studios. Not that The Magic Kingdom is without exciting exhibits. The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain provide thrills and spills for those who enjoy an adrenalin rush from a fast and furious theme park ride. In addition to these, the Magic Kingdom has a number of great shows but be warned, the outdoor ones are not air-conditioned......take a hat and something cool to drink if you're likely to be sitting a while. Cinderella's Castle offers a great point for orientating yourself and finding where you are in relation to the various lands within the Kingdom. Warning, the it's a small world exhibit gives you a boat ride in cool surroundings whilst you observe the displays of dolls - however, the theme tune, "It's a small world afterall" plays over and over throughout the entire time you are a captive on that boat - and will keep on playing over in your head for a long time after you disembark and go to the next exhibit!
Visitor Information: Getting There: Once you get to Orlando, Disney is well signposted. After you park the car, there are various modes of transport, depending on which entrance you have used, to take you into the Magic Kingdom. There is special transport from the car park, or if you have parked at one of the other Disney parks, you could use the very efficient monorail. However, the best way to arrive, in my opinion, is on the Ferry that transports you from the main Disney arrival section, across the lagoon and into the Magic Kingdom. Open Hours: Open hours at the Magic Kingdom vary from day-to-day, and visitors should check with the park before setting off. For December and January the park opens each day at 9.00 am, but closes at different times. You can check with a member of staff at the entry gate. Access: Disney is aware of the Access issue and has guidelines posted at its major attractions as to what the restrictions are as regards mobility. If you think that this may spoil your visit, you should write or telephone the visitor centre and ask them for specific information about your concerns on access.
