Every year the Daily News conducts a survey of its readers for the islands BEST. “Best what?” you may ask; well it’s the best of the islands everything. This year’s forms were filled out and flying everywhere and once the votes were tallied we now have our list of the Best of the V.I. 2002.
Best Late Night Dining in St. Thomas is Room With a View at Blue Beard’s Castle; in St. Croix it’s Club 54 and Mama Mia’s Pizzeria in St. John. For that Cheeseburger in Paradise, the Best Hamburger selections have been chosen and it’s a tie on St. Thomas between the Hard Rock and Shipwreck Tavern. Cheeseburgers in Paradise lives up to its name in St. Croix as they won the honor and in St. John it’s Sun Dog CafĂ©. What about lunch? Get yourself to Molly Malone’s on St. Thomas, the ST. Crioix winner is The Bombay Club and in St. John it’s the Lime Inn. When you are on a budget the best place to eat is Tickles on St. Thomas, Luncheria on St. Croix and Hercules Pate Delight on St. John. Thirsty? The votes for Best Frozen Cocktails are in. The Green House Bar and Restaurant is the place to go in St. Thomas, Sunterra Carambola Beach Resort in St. Croix and in St. John Margarita’s Mexican Eatery. What about tours? The Best Dive Operator is Chris Sawyer Diving Center in St. Thomas, S.C.U.B.A. in St. Croix and Low Key Watersports in St. John. Want to day sail? New Horizons I in St. Thomas is your best bet, Big Beard’s Adventure Tours in St. Croix and St. John’s Wayward Sailor won the show. Families don’t despair the Best Family Attractions votes are in and for St. Thomas it’s Tillett Gardens. Coral World, Magens Bay and Paradise Point received nominations. For St. Croix its Buck Island and on St. John it is of course the National Park. Did you know three quarters of St. John is a national park?
