Sailing is a popular activity. Many resort beaches offer sun sails for rent. Instruction is available for the novice sailor. If a crewed charter is more your style, you'll find so many choices that your head will spin! To help with the decision process, consider the following questions. How big is the boat? What types are offered? What style food and drink are offered? What is included?
Summarizing to its most basic level, the bigger the boat the more stable and roomy. There are exceptions, but that is the basic rule of thumb. Size and type of boat usually go hand in hand. Tour operators will usually offer seating to passengers not to exceed the Coast Guard limit. This means that if you are looking for a romantic sailing excursion with your newly wedded spouse you will be extremely disappointed with a large party boat.
Catamarans are becoming more a more popular. It's easy to see why this is true. They are more stable and feature roomy decks. It is not always a party environment though very festive. Many passengers are usually aboard this type vessel, so expect to meet a lot of new friends. Lunch is served buffet style but don't worry, there will be plenty for everyone with some left over to feed the fish! This is a good choice for families and singles.
More personable service will be found on the single-hull sailing boats. These vessels offer the full sailing experience. There is no type of freedom quite like being on a boat under full sail listening to nothing more than the wind and water. Couples and honeymooners will especially want to review the choices in this category.
