Virginia - Richmond has been the location for a couple of different t.v. shows including Dawsons Creek and Legacy. It's also had several different movies filmed there including: The Replacements, Hush - which also had filming done in Orange and Charlottesville VA and Forces of Nature which had some scenes in Fairfax County as well.
Northern Va has hosted movies such as The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Rules of Engagement.
Dirty Dancing - the hotel for this movie actually located in Giles County, Virginia and is called Mountain Lake Resort. The view from there is beautiful!
Arlington Road - The neighborhood they used is supposedly near Reston, VA as Arlington Road does not exist.
Deep Impact - I remember Deep Impact fondly for no other reason than it was the first time I came close to signing up as an extra. The radio was asking for hundreds of people to appear in a scene where they are running in fear. Some of the filming was done in Manassas, VA.
G.I. Jane - O'Neil's modest house also was on the Potomac. later scenes were filmed in Richmond, Va., where the State of Virginia Capitol Building posed as the U.S. Capitol and the back of a house on the James River became O'Neil's house on the Potomac.

Forces of Nature - Richmond and Fairfax County

Pelican Brief - Arlington and Mount Vernon
Maryland -
St. Elmo's Fire - The University of Maryland in College Park was used instead of Georgetown where the movie was supposed to take place in.
Runaway Bride - Although the town of Hale, Maryland where part of the movie was set is fictional, it was filmed in Berlin, Maryland on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Species II - Howard County, MD was used for the majority of the movie.
Absolute Power - Most of the neighborhood sequences were shot in Baltimore, MD.
