Why Do the Innocent Suffer? As we enter 2002 let us remember that we must remain strong in the midst of this tragedy. We are angry. We are confused. Yet as Americans many of us have never seen such solidarity amongst every race. We are proud to display the stars and stripes and cheer for our service men and women as they defend our security. From it has come a feeling of American pride and solidarity regardless of race, color, or creed. Let us resolve to remember the victims of the September 11th tragedy. African-American, Caucasian, Middle-eastern, Asian, Hispanic – they were all Americans. For 2002 let us remain united. For even though we will always question why the innocent have to suffer, in our solidity we will find peace.
