In Light of the Season

I struggle with the fact that hate has risen from such a hateful act. Though force is necessary to protect our way of life, we must remember that with the exception of the Native Americans, we all came from another land looking for a better life in America and regardless of our reverence for Allah, Jesus, or Buddha, we are one. Let us be one as we struggle through these tumultuous times and remember those Americans who suffered an irreversible fate, not in the name of any god, but in the name of hate and separation. It is easy to follow. It is easy to hate. Can we as Americans truly practice what we preach?

This Halloween, spooks, goblins, and witches seem so trivial, but we should we really let terrorism crash our party? The answer is no. We should let the festivities continue but with a revitalized pride for our freedom to throw a sheet over our head and roam the streets, not because we are required to do so by our government, but because we CHOOSE to do so. Let us unite as a nation and celebrate All Hallows Eve with respect for each other's differences. If we do, perhaps the rest of the world will follow.
