Gender Archetypes: Part One Introduction

In the Past I ran an article on Control Issues. That article inspired this series, even if it was indeed a long time in coming!

Lets look at archetypal genders in depth for the next few weeks. Your opinions are quite welcome, so do post your feelings about this on the boards!

How we experience what is masculine or feminine will depend in part on how we were raised as well as how in touch we are with the Universal Mind or Higher Self. Do not make the mistake of confusing Gender Archetypes with physical gender of male and female. While the majority of us are born with only one physical gender, we are all born with both of the gender archetypes in our personality and subconscious.

We also do not want to confuse the archetypal gender with gender roles. Gender roles are based on what is expected of us from outside ourselves in relation to our physical gender, and have little to do with the archetypal genders we all possess, save that what we are expected to express outwardly is usually bits and pieces of one or the other archetypes, depending on what physical sex we are. In other words, gender roles are about making those around you comfortable in your presence. What is inside you may be quite different than what you are showing to the world.

What shows masculinity?

What symbolizes all that is feminine?

Over the next few weeks we will be breaking down the walls of physical gender and gender roles, and asking ourselves:

"What symbolizes the masculine (or feminine) in me?"

Are men really from Mars and women really from Venus? We will use astrology and its wonderful ability to show how both the masculine and feminine are reflected in everyone, and explain in detail what each gender represents psychologically.

I hope you come along for the ride!
