There is certainly debate as to whether or not we are in the Age of Aquarius. Many sidrealists and traditional astrologers say no, that there will not be a precession to the next age in our lifetimes. It may be another hundred years before we see the actual change. However, there are others who believe the Age of Aquarius was ushered in back in the 1940's with the use of the first hydrogen bombs. Still some will say that it was the 1960's, and others yet say the 1990's.
With that in mind, let's explore Aquarius and how it is symbolic of our current culture, and then you decide whether or not it is the Age of Aquarius for yourself. Before we can do that, we have to spend a moment defining the Age of Pisces. Pisces and it's astrological ruler, Neptune, can be symbolized in the two-word keyphrase "I Believe". The Piscean Age dawned just before the time of Jesus Christ, we believe, and it began an era of pure devotion, belief, and faith. Christianity works on the premise that you do not question, you simply believe. When you fully and undeniably believe in the Word of Jesus (or Allah, or Mohammed for that matter), you then will be saved and have a place in Heaven. While this is a very basic description, it is simply used to illustrate the Piscean "flavor" that is held by Christianity, both then and now. It has been a highly spiritual age (Neptune), with many religions believing that they are the only true path to God. For over 2000 years, this faith has been the focus of people world-wide. Enter Aquarius. While in the 1960's it was popular to think that the Age of Aquarius would "dawn" and bring with it a world of peace, love, and brotherhood, the true "nature" of Aquarius doesn't quite work that way. Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, which is a planet of change, of non-conformity, of breaking barriers, and also of crisis. Aquarius wants to question, to gain knowledge, to make changes, and to do the best for all concerned. With an Aquarian Age we would see a return of bigger government coming in to try to straighten out the problems of the world; hunger, environment, healthcare. We will see people both needing and at the same moment resenting a larger government. We would see new and exciting technologies, the ability to communicate and gain knowledge, even over a distance. We would see a breaking away from organized religion to smaller groups or individuals. People will question spirituality and try to come up with answers of their own. Go To Page: 1 2
