Dreaming seems to be a popular topic amongst almost everyone. There are few people in our culture who have not, at some point, questioned the innate meanings behind their dreams.
Because we are able to be our full selves in dreams (meaning we are not restricted my other people's expectations of us, the only person we seem to have to deal with it the self), we may express our emotions in ways we would certainly never express ourselves in waking hours. But, just because we dream something doesn't mean we truly desire it. A romantic liaison with a co-worker that we find completely unattractive, for example, in a dream does not mean we secretly desire to be with that person. It may mean however, that we are lacking the comfort, attention, or love we desire from a spouse or other loved one. Our mind will pick the image of the person we may find unattractive to in to prove a point to us in waking hours: that we find the attention we are receiving from others to be beneath our personal needs or standards. On the other hand, a highly emotionally charged reoccurring dream about someone could mean an unconscious yen to connect with that person. It may be an "ex", an old sweetheart, or anyone. If you suffer from emotionally charged dreams (meaning you carry the emotional feelings with you into the waking day) on a regular basis, and the theme or person present in these dreams is consistent, you are probably looking at some seriously unfinished business with that individual or group of individuals. For example, one night you dream that you are dancing with an old flame. The next week you dream that you see that person from across the room but do not speak. A month later you dream of the same person again, and each time you awaken to a smell surrounding you or a feeling that you cannot shake, chances are you have some past situations that need closure. Or, maybe issues that need to be reopened! Go To Page: 1 2
