The Natal Chart
Planets The planets in our solar system, the luminaries (the Sun and Moon), the asteroids, and the planetoids all have a place in our charts in the signs and houses. The planets, as you may have seen from past articles here, show the actions we take and drives we have. Planets are interconnected to each other by aspect. Aspects are certain degrees of distance between planets or points in the chart describing a relationship that determines how those symbols interact. A question many people have is whether an accurate natal chart can be cast without time of birth. The answer is "No." There are astrologers who, without a time of birth, will run what is called a solar chart (this chart puts the Sun on the first house cusp) to get an idea of the planetary placements by sign and aspect. Other astrologers will cast a chart to put the Sun on the 10th house cusp or Midheaven to also look at the planets by sign and aspect. Neither of these practices can give an understanding of "where" the symbols show up in the life of the person the chart is cast for. If you approach an astrologer without a birth time, and they consent to run a chart for you, be forewarned that not only does it lack accuracy; but if the astrologer doesn't explain this to you in detail, you may not be dealing with someone very professional. The only other way to cast a chart without a birth time to get accurate results is by rectification. An astrologer who has experience with rectification can find out your approximate time of birth through using different aspects of your personality along with events
