Seminars in Psychological Astrology

If the study of astrology piques your interest and you are looking for an absorbing and intelligent look at it, the Seminars in Psychological Astrology Volumes 1-5 may be what you are looking for.

These books, taken from transcripts of the teachings of Liz Greene, Howard Sasportas, and Richard Idemond are for those of you who are tired of Sun Signs and the fortune telling aspect of astrology. Here you will meet a blend of astrology, psychology, and mythical archetypes in a series that looks at the human mind and motivations. While some are not for the complete astrological novice, there is enough information to guide those with even the most basic knowledge of the subject to a greater understanding of how astrological symbolism fits into life. Anyone looking to understand psychology and the human mind may benefit from the talent provided in these works.

The seminars were taught at the Centre for Psychological Astrology in England and those transcripts became these books. Both Richard Idemond and Howard Sasportas are now deceased and these were some of their greatest works. Liz Greene continues to teach and write as the head of the Centre.

Volume one is called "The Development of the Personality" by Greene and Sasportas. The focus here begins as astrology used with depth psychology to understand the process of the mind of children and infants as they develop mentally and emotionally. Also explored are parental relationships and their effect on how we experience pattern relationships as adults. Real life problems are discussed and used for example.

Volume two is "The Dynamics of the Unconscious" by Greene and Sasportas. This is a deep look into the darker side of the adult psychological experience. Through psychology, astrology and archetypes, the authors explore aggression, healthy assertion, and depression as a form of assertion gone awry. This book is not only a must for anyone studying astrology in depth, but can be used by anyone looking to have a deeper understanding of the psychological processes of the adult mind.

Volume three, also by Greene and Sasportas, is called "The Luminaries." This seminar explains the true meanings of the Sun and Moon in astrology from a psychological and alchemical standpoint, and how they relate to the way we experience our parents in our own development.

Volume four, again authored by the same, is called "The Inner Planets." Here we will find a look at the myth, psychology and astrology of Mercury, Venus, and Mars. There are many examples and personal issues brought to light how these symbols color our experiences.
