Grace Under PressureI decided to take a week off from the planet information to do something different for you. What role do ethics play for someone working with astrology or spiritualism? Well, that would depend on whom you might ask. I thought I would share a pure opinion of mine on what the ethics means to me in astrology and in choosing to be an interfaith minister. One of the most important things I learned beginning studies such as these is to first evaluate your self. What do you believe? What are your values? Do you have values you don't always live up to but want to make the effort to try harder to do so? Do you really want to help people? Will you set aside profit to help those most in need? What reoccurring problems do you face in your own life? Without the answers to these simple questions, it is hard to ethically proceed in a profession of astrologer, counselor, or other helping profession. The learning of astrology itself can sometimes help to bring the answers to these questions to the surface of your consciousness for you to effectively deal with them. I, for instance, had to deal with a compulsion to get angry at nothing. I, with so much emphasis in Virgo, would look for something to curse at. I never even saw it in myself until my first astrology teacher pointed it out. I had a tendency to be just plain old mean. Once you see these areas of yourself that could use work, the question then becomes how to improve. I took that negative, mean side of Virgo and decided I would use up that excess energy somewhere else in my chart. My Moon, being in the third house in Aquarius, showed that my energy would be much better spent taking on small scale causes that needed positive change. Aquarius rules causes, friends, humanitarianism, and groups. The Moon rules the core of emotion in the self. So, by targeting my emotion and energy toward the positive I no longer have to worry about my temper. Actually, I tend to be so easy going now in personal communications that I am hardly the same person I was ten years ago. The Virgo still represents my sense of self, my communications, my assertion skills, a love for animals, and my ability to transform my self, but because my excess energy is being channeled through my Aquarian Moon and Scorpio placements, I do not use that to exaggerate the Virgo. Instead I am free to use the positive qualities of the Virgo placements. Doesn't mean I don't backslide at times, but it becomes less of a problem as I go.
