Buy the Right Part-The First TimeFinally, let us look at where you should puchase parts. Some parts can only be purchased from the manufacturer and these parts are generally easy to obtain from your local new car dealership. When it comes to aftermarket parts, however, you have many choices as to where to buy. My advice is to go to a store that specializes in auto parts that employs knowledgeable people, especially an independentlly operated store. These stores may charge a little more, but they generally know what they are talking about and will stand behind their parts. I get really frustrated when trying to purchase parts from a nationwide chain store that employs some young kid that doesn't know his rear end from a pinion gear and really doesn't care. I just know I saw him working the drive-thru burger window last week and half expect him to ask if I want fries with my spark plugs and air filter.
