I have been long impressed with the ability of certain individuals who seem to possess the tenacity to accomplish things mere average mortals would not dare.
An example? The ultra long distance runner. Names like Don Kardong, Ed Ayres, Kenny Moore and countless others have stepped up to that starting line and accepted the challenge, each in his own way, to begin a journey very few ever dare attempt. Some would say they are crazy; I say they are daring. Like the wire walkers of old days. Except the wire walkers could have a grateful seat after a short exhibit. The daring spirit may be the same, but let us not for one moment think the effort is the same! Over the coming weeks, I will explore the heady, intriguing world of Ultra distance running. From 30 miles up to...unimaginable distances. One hundred, or more miles! Come along with me on this exploration of another world. Remember: the start of a thousand-mile journey begins with one step. I'd like to add that that journey really starts in the embryonic stage in the mind. If you want to glimpse a patriarch of ultra distance running and a former Olympian, vist this remarkable man, Ted Corbitt, right here! Go To Page: 1
