HAARP, Part IIAs we continue to look at the High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) this week, let's briefly review what we have discovered so far. The project, a joint venture of the U.S. Government (military) and several universities, is a test and research facility in Alaska dedicated to the study of the ionosphere; that area located just above our breathable atmosphere. While HAARP is technically an ionospheric heater and not the only one in the world, it is by far the most powerful, or far reaching, as it has the capability of producing magnetically charged radio transmissions at a much lower frequency than any other project of its type. Super accelerated particles (atoms, ions, etc.) are propelled (literally shot out of the transmitter antenna like a cannon ball) at near the speed of light into the ionosphere above the radio transmitter, further creating a chain reaction of high speed atoms and ions which take on the magnetic properties of the projectile atoms, colliding and exploding, and creating a "heating effect". But why? To what purpose? Again we can turn to the patent application for HAARP, which was filed by a Dr. Eastlund in 1985, later assigned to APTI Inc, (APTI is a small subdivision of the oil company ARCO, the prime defense contractor which built HAARP). According to the patent application, HAARP technology can be used to establish a highly charged electromagnetic field over a large area of the ionosphere. Any electronic device passing through the charged zone would lose all electronic logic and function; it would cease to work. Apparently locating the HAARP research center in Alaska wasn't by accident. Any Intercontinental ballistic missile launched from the former Soviet Union in route to the United States would pass through this "shield", becoming immediately disabled and far short of its mission. In effect, HAARP, a suspected part of the 1980s Star Wars Defense initiative of Ronald Reagan, was created to shield the U.S. from Soviet missile attack, rendering ICBM assault by Soviet states ineffective. If HAARP was a proven shield that could shut down an incoming warhead, then it could have changed the balance of the 1970s and 80s international arms race. And perhaps that is exactly what happened in the early and mid-nineties, with the fall of the Soviet Iron Curtain and the sudden change of heart of Soviet die-hard patriots who opted for a shot at democracy (and free enterprise), to the sudden surprise to us all. Could Reagan's Star Wars Defense Project have been so successful that it ultimately rendered the Soviet missile arsenal totally useless, providing the political advantage to the West to introduce ideas of internal reform? And is there more to HAARP (and perhaps the entire Star Wars program) as suggested in some circles, than meets the eye? So little is truly known about the high-tech and scientific approach to the Cold War arms race initiated during the Reagan years. Very little has been published about the multiple projects involved in Star Wars,
