A Few Tips for Summerchicken or fish - or how about some vegetables? If you've got to have some crunch, try raw crispy vegetables, or baked potato chips with a low fat dip. Use low or no fat substitutions wherever you can, such as low fat mayonnaise. Check out vegetarian versions of your favorites, such as veggie hot dogs or hamburgers. Avoid sugary soft drinks. Diet sodas and iced teas are better (don't forget, there's always water). Enjoy fruits. They make excellent hot weather desserts. Instead of ice cream, try nonfat ice cream or fruit sorbet. Even if you're visiting granny or vacationing in Hawaii, stay as close to your meal plan as you can. You might even try carrying a wallet sized plan to help you remember. Continue to strive for a healthy balance between food, exercise, and medications. If you just can't resist those greasy spareribs, enjoy, but do so in moderation. Have a great summer!
