There is not much information available on the mating and breeding habits of hyacinth macaws. Breeding programs have been instituted, attempting to raise the population of the hyacinth. There are some professionals and dedicated specialists who are doing their best to replace the number of hyacinth macaws that once occupied the Pantanal. Raised on private property, the hyacinth macaw is making a slow, but steady comeback. We must not let this magnificent bird fall into oblivion. Next week: Part II.
