Don't put small and large fish together. Try to get fish pretty much the same size.
When you purchase additional fish, keep them away from the others a few days to monitor them for diseases. Feeding Fish
Feed your fish 2 or 3 times a day in small amounts. The amount of food should be based how much the fish can eat in less than 3 to 5 minutes. Overfeeding fish can spoil the tank water so it can do more damage than underfeeding them. Don't be fooled by the behavior of the fish and think they are constantly hungry just because they spend most of the day searching for food. Fish are programmed to hunt. Acquire Knowledge
Do some research and talk to people with experience in this area. Browse through pet stores in order to learn about the wide array of equipment and fish. You may even consider joining a club where you can trade stories and fish. The aquarium hobby is a fun and enjoyable experience and not as scary as you may think. So hopefully setting up your first aquarium will be made just a little easier by these tips.
