Finding Aquarium Information OnlineIn the world of the aquarium hobby there is so much confusion, there are diseases that start out the same and separate into different diseases further into the disease. Everyone has a different solution for the same problem. Identifying a fish by the scientific name versus a common name can also be confusing. Scientist's studying these fish don't help either because they cant even agree on names sometimes. Haplachromis Moorii and Cytocara Moorii are both the same fish! So when gathering information, it helps to have a place to go and you can at least hope that you are getting correct answers. I would tend to go to the larger on line forums to start with. Not saying bigger is better, because that is not true all the time. Larger forums will have been established longer, have more members, and more moderators to answer you questions. They would also have more sections so that you may post specific questions. When posting questions on forums remember give as much information as possible, there is no such thing as too much information when posting. The more information you post, the better the odds at getting a near correct answer. Don't let forum moderators scare you off by saying your post is to long or to large! Sometimes you can evaluate the quality of the forum by going in and looking at the types of questions that are posted. Are they intelligent questions or ones posted by people who are bored and have nothing better to do with their time? A forum moderator of any value would be in there deleting the stupid questions because it is a waste of space. You can tell a lot about a forum by the amount of work administrators and moderators put in. Most fish-related forums are divided into sections, which contains sections on plants, diseases, your different types of fish, do it yourself projects, and so on. Articles make up a great part of a forum, as well as photo sections, and product reviews. Others have fish profiles, short movies, a list of local breeders and stores. Usually stores that are listed on, on line forums are stores that are reliable and know their stuff. Some forums ask stores to pay for an ad in order to help pay for the operational costs of hosting a forum. After getting your feet wet with the larger forums then you can try the smaller ones or the specialized ones. You will find forums related to certain species of fish (such as guppies, angelfish, cichlids) or fish just from a certain location (like Africa or South America). Now even these types of forums are getting split into smaller sections (such as Lake Malawii or Lake Victoria)
