No Meat, No Dairy: A new approach to weight-loss.In 1956, the United States department of Agriculture created the basic 4 food groups and included meat and dairy not to keep America healthy, but to keep the meat and dairy industries healthy and in turn, the economy. After much research on the subject, past and present studies confirm what I knew all along - the body has no nutritional requirement for animal products. So that's why I always felt bad when I ate it and good when I didn't. Go figure. And just when America started to put down the glass of milk and stop frying the burgers - a slue of ad campaigns came out saying "milk, it does a body good" or "eat beef" and "pork, the other white meat." All in an effort to keep America consuming so these markets could make money and in turn the economy could keep chugging along. Remember when Oprah said she would never eat red meat again? Can you imagine if we all stopped? Would we get sued too? So, we were bombarded with ad campaigns practically begging us to drink milk, eat beef and fry up some pork. Tell the 70-80% of African-Americans and Asian-Americans that are lactose intolerant that milk does a body good or the more than 50% of the adult population that's lactose intolerant. What about the overweight gentleman who keeps telling his doctor "all I had was a cheeseburger and fries today, I don't know why I'm overweight." Pork may not kill you, but all the sodium in it might. Think about the last time you ate a piece of cheese, drank a glass of milk or had a piece of meat - how did you feel afterwards? My guess is, gas-y, crampy, heavy, bloated, a sudden urge to go to the bathroom or just really tired. The list of wrongs with meat and dairy far outweigh the rights. Ever wonder why so many people have a tough time losing weight even though they don't seem to be eating much? Cheese, milk, ice cream and egg yolks - they're all fat. Meat products contain saturated fat. The small amounts of protein, iron and calcium you get from eating animal products isn't worth the pain, the weight gain and the health problems caused by them. So I guess you're wondering where you can get calcium, protein and iron without consuming animal products, right? Let's start with protein: Remember that
