While you’re at the gap stop off for a pint in Kate Kearney's Cottage - one of the most famous pubs in Ireland. Kate was a famous beauty who did a roaring trade selling illegal poteen from her home. Today the alcohol sold is legal but equally welcome and in demand.
On a rainy day you might want to check out the Museum of Irish Transport with its collection of vintage and classic vehicles, bicycles and fire engines. Or enjoy the Kerry Glass Studio and Visitor Centre where you can watch glass makers at work on Killarney's beautiful colored glass.
A trip to Cray Cave is a good idea too. Excavators believe the caves date back over one million years and visitors can go over 12,000 feet below the surface to see spectacular stalactites.
